Wigan Athletic Ladies' Development squad beat Penwortham Town Ladies 4-2 in an exciting Women's County League Cup final.

It was a much-improved cup showing for Penwortham after they were knocked out in the first round of last season's competition.

They twice led the tie through Ellie Clarke and Amelia Ripley, but Wigan hit back as Megan Hornby notched a hat-trick and Heather Gallagher also got onto the scoresheet.
