Burnley FC Women Announce Leyland Site As Their Home Venue

This new agreement further strengthens the club’s partnership with Lancashire FA.

We are pleased to welcome Burnley FC Women to play their home games at our Leyland site.

The squad have played three home games, including a triumphant 4-0 win over last season’s league toppers Huddersfield Town Women, at the ground which is also home to the Clarets Academy U23s and U18s for several fixtures throughout the season.

On the move, Burnley FC Chairman Alan Pace said: “We are pleased to confirm that Burnley FC Women home games will be moving permanently to Lancashire FA’s County Ground from Accrington Stanley’s Wham Stadium.

“Since taking over operations of the women’s team, we have stated our commitment to developing our strategy around women’s football, and unfortunately, the needs and growth of the team’s requirements were unable to be met at Accrington. We are extremely grateful that the Lancashire FA Headquarters were able to suit our requirements both now and for the future, and we look forward to further strengthening our positive relationship with them, while continuing to improve women’s football at the club.

“The facilities at the County Ground are fantastic, and they have been very welcoming to Burnley FC, both to our academy sides and our women’s team operations.

“As the Lancashire FA Headquarters, the ground is well renowned locally and we are delighted to be calling it home for Burnley FC Women for the remainder of the season.

“There is a real buzz around the venue, with their wide range of facilities showcasing their passion for sport.

“We hope supporters will continue to support our women’s team journey in the Northern Premier Division of the FA Women’s National League, we have big ambitions for the squad, and we look forward to welcoming fans to our new home.”

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: “The team and I welcome the news that Lancashire FA will be our new home.

“We are familiar with the facilities from the previous fixtures we have played there, and everybody has been very welcoming.

“We look forward to playing our home games at the venue and we will be working hard both on and off the pitch to ensure that we can enjoy many positive results there.”

David Chell, Head of Commercial & Operations at Lancashire FA said: “I am really pleased to have secured the deal for Burnley FC Women to use The County Ground as their new home ground with immediate effect. I am looking forward to working with the new owners, management team and players to help to grow attendances and make every game played at The County Ground really special. My team and I are excited at the opportunity and look forward to welcoming fans, parents, players and everyone associated with the team on Sunday 31 October for the game against West Bromwich Albion. This game will also be free admission.”
