2025 County Cup Final Referee Appointment Evening
On Thursday 20 March, Lancashire FA held the annual County Cup Final Referee Appointment Evening at the County Ground.
While nearly 80 match officials joined to find out which match they would be presiding over with Referee Development Officer Jacob Lehane leading the evening, we were also joined by Championship (Select Group 2) referee Oli Langford.
Given Langford has officiated over 500 EFL matches throughout his career, he was the perfect person to give a fascinating insight into teamwork on matchdays and explain how the County Cup Final officiating teams can prepare for their coveted final.
County Cup Appointments Officer Debbie Jessop spoke to all the chosen officials to explain the process of appointing them to the finals, which started in November, taking into account many considerations including administration, communication and performance.
RDO Jacob Lehane said: “This is such an exciting evening to recognise the officials for their hard work over the season. We wish them all the very best on their matches and look forward to seeing the officials enjoy the occasion.”
The first County Cup Final is the Veterans Cup which takes place on Thursday 13 March, with the final one being the U13 Girls Final to be played on May 11.
