Vacancy: Director of Lancashire Football Association
The Lancashire Football Association (LFA) is looking for capable and committed people at board level to help secure a positive future for football in the county.
This is an exciting time for football in Lancashire as we look to provide more and better facilities and the structure and support for players, coaches, referees and volunteers to develop. Our goal is to ensure we create the environment and infrastructure where football can flourish and provide opportunities for all backgrounds and abilities.
The LFA is responsible for the progress and governance of football in the county, which is the largest in the Football Association. We have a proud history to rank alongside any other organisation in the game, but the focus of the current board is now to look forward with the overarching purpose of developing the game for all. We want to encourage and inspire the next generation to participate in and enjoy the best game in the world.
The role of the Director:
This is a voluntary position but all board members are paid reasonable expenses for their contribution to the Association and football in the county.
- In conjunction with the LFA Board and Executive team, develop and execute the vision for the organisation;
- Provide independent and expert advice to support both the Board and Executive team in optimising performance;
- Ensure that The LFA promotes best practice corporate governance and provides challenge and feedback where necessary;
- Act as an ambassador for The LFA forging constructive links within the local grassroots game;
- Promote the long-term interests of the Association across a diverse range of activities;
- Commit to attend LFA Board and other relevant meetings where appropriate
We are seeking Board members with the following expertise and background to help our business reach its full potential. All applications will be considered on merit but in particular we are looking for people who have experience in developing high level strategy and partnerships in facility and investment and education and training.
Applications will be only be considered for this Director position who are currently a Full Member of the association and any person who is currently elected to a committee to that full member and has the relevant experience in the following;
Key selection criteria:
A keen interest in and knowledge of football, including the national game and grassroots level;
The intellect and natural curiosity to contribute widely to discussion, drawing on experience that will be credible to a variety of stakeholders;
A progressive thinker who can use their skill and experience to foster a culture that respects diversity and is inclusive;
Well-developed stakeholder management skills combined with the determination and resilience to see a project through to completion.
