Lancashire FA Officials Leading the Way
Once again, Lancashire FA have had a hugely successful year in terms of referee promotions and achievements during the 2018/19 season.
A large number of officials within the county have been promoted to the next level in their refereeing careers, most notably Leigh Doughty who has been promoted to Level 1 and will operate in the Football League as of next season. Lancashire FA are also celebrating another promotion to the Football League as Conor Brown has been promoted as an assistant referee for Leagues One & Two for the 2019/20 season.
The county has also seen a fantastic return on promotions at an FA Level, with two of our officials being promoted to Level 2A (National League Premier) referees, three officials being promoted to Level 2B (National League North/South) referees, five officials being promoted to Level 3 (Contributory League) referees and seven officials being promoted to Level 4 (Supply League) referees.
In addition, at a county FA Level we have seen a total of 31 referees promoted to either Level 6 or 5.
It is not just promotions where Lancashire referees are leading the way, with numerous referee officials being appointed to cup finals and end of season play of fixtures. These appointments reflect the progress made by the referees within the county and are a just reward for the fantastic seasons that each and every one of the officials has had.
Referee Development Officer, Lewis Smith said: “Once again it has been another fantastic season for Lancashire FA match officials and their development both on and off the field of play."
"It gives Shaun, Lindsay and I great pride when we see our officials succeeding in their achievements and it is a pleasure that we are able to contribute to that within the Referee’s Department here at Lancashire FA. On behalf of all of Lancashire FA, we would like to pass on our utmost congratulations to all of our officials who have received promotions and cup final appointments."
