Future Blackburn Rovers Stars Win the Professional Youth Cup
Blackburn played a strong side with four players being involved in the first team this year including goalkeeper Nicolas Michalski.
Bolton looked dangerous in the initial stages; their best chance came from a deflected shot falling to the feet of David Abimbola inside the box whose effort struck the defender.
However, Rovers countered the early pressure with a goal as Lewis Bell was played in behind for Zack Stritch to score, he met the wingers cross with a clever finish to make it 1-0 in the 13th minute.
The Blue and Whites looked to have got their second when they struck the post, winning the ball high up the pitch Rhys Doherty delivered a wicked ball that found the head of Igor Tyjon where he hit the bar.
After the break Rovers were unlucky not to go 2-0 up as a counter drove from Max Davies found his winger who delivered a delicate cross to the back post it was met by a volley from Lorenze Mullarkey-Matthews that was well saved.
Bolton created their best chance of the game through link up play from duo Abimbola and Dasheon Lawrence, a bounce pass set the big number 9 to shoot that whispered past the post.
But pressure built up on Bolton at the other end as Stritch got his brace after being on the end of a Mullarkey-Matthews cross.
Later the game went on cracks started to show as Rory Finneran played a weighted pass in behind for substitute Joseph Boggan who had only one thing in his mind, his deadly strike rifled the back of the net which made sure the tie ended 3-0.
